Every fall I work harder, lose more sleep, get more stressed, and generally poop out of doing anything else rewarding. Tea, however, is my little refuge amongst all of the chaos that is the “catalog season”.
On those rare weekends when the weather isn’t too brisk & windy and the sun is out, you’ll find me sleeping, working, or out on the deck getting some vitamin D and enjoying tea doing all three. Today was no exception. I knew the weather was going to be picture perfect for a photo shoot out on the deck. I was sick yesterday, which was rainy so that was fine, but I wasn’t quite as wobbly today, so things were looking up.
I also prepared by getting out seasonal decor, buying a few new goodies, and making some 3-ingredient pumpkin spice cupcakes. You heard me: THREE ingredients! I’m pleased to say they turned out very well and are moist and spicy. A perfect autumnal treat.
For today’s photo shoot and tea I chose one of my new favorite teas; the Hot Cinnamon Spice tea from Harney & Sons Master Tea Blenders. To say this blend is “spicy” and “cinnamony” is not doing it justice. It is cinnamon spice – to the extreme!! It warms your soul to your toes, it’s THAT good. It was the perfect complement to the pecan tarts and my pumpkin spice cupcakes.
The leaves on the trees are nearing full peak of their colorful fall coats. I haven’t seen this much red in many years. Perhaps our extremely dry and warm September played a factor. Regardless, some of the views are just stunning right now.
As I enjoyed my tea on the deck and listening to the rustle of the leaves as the chipmunks skittered around, I realize we won’t have many more days like this as the colder air and shorter days creep into our lives here in the Northeast. I’m trying to savor as much as I can…when I can, during this busy time. I’ll rest when it’s dark…but I’ll still have my tea to cheer me up.

What a lovely photo shoot!! Fall is my favorite time of year and you have certainly captured the essence of it for me. The tea and goodies sound delicious. I love cinnamon and pumpkin. So the three ingredients…pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, and flour?? Please do tell… Happy Fall to you! Love you, cousin.

Thanks Rae. I found the pumpkin muffin recipe on SparkPeople.com. I actually added 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, so technically it was 3 ingredients for me. I used Duncan Hines Spice cake mix. Here is the recipe: 2-Ingredient Pumpkin Muffins

Beautiful photos! It’s so easy to get caught up in our daily stresses that we don’t really appreciate the loveliness in our lives. You seem to have the knack of enjoying the moment.
