It is finally April, and that called for a little bit of color. I picked up a bouquet of miniature roses at the market yesterday as well as some strawberry drizzle cookies. Then I looked for some spring-like tea ware in my collection.
I grabbed a teapot I haven’t used yet. It was my late mother’s. I believe it was actually the vase of a bouquet I ordered for her for Mother’s Day many years ago. She kept it on display on her buffet cabinet in her apartment in New York. I carefully wrapped it up and brought it to Maine with me after she passed away. The teapot is very large, but it poured beautifully and I thought of mom the entire time.
The plate under the cookies is one whose history I do not know. It appeared in our cupboard and it’s oddly discolored…at least I THINK it is, but it has lovely, colorful flowers on it. I did a search online for the stamp on the back, but nothing matching this pattern came up.
The tiny teacup & saucer is one I bought in an antique store many moons ago here in Maine. It was made in Finland by Arabia. After a long search online, I wasn’t able to match this pattern either. It may be very old or discontinued, but it has lovely flowers on it as well.
I tried a new tea today from my order with Trail Lodge Tea in St. Louis. Today’s blend is Smokey Mountain. This is a wonderful Keemun and Yunnan black tea and was a nice balance with the sweet cookies. I LOVE this blend and I think a 2nd order will be coming up soon. Again, their teas are Fair Trade CertifiedTM Organic.
Although there is still snow on the ground here, I can feel spring is close by. I’m anxiously waiting my first tea outside this year. Until then, I make a little spring inside when I can. Enjoy!
