Peonies, Tea, and The Loons

Hey there! Long time, no post! Yes, it has been awhile. I’m still drinking tea on a daily basis, I’m just not producing enough energy to create photo vignettes and write a blog about it. How do REAL bloggers do it? Oh, I know…they’re young and don’t have 40+hour work weeks, right? 🙂

It has been an odd start to summer here in Maine with June being VERY wet and cool. The last week or so has finally started to bring brief glimpses of actual summer.

Today is cloudy, but it’s finally warm. Some showers are expected, but I can still sit on the deck under the protective cover of the extended roof and enjoy being outside again.

This morning the loons have been very active on the stream and calling to one another from great distances. The peonies are finally blooming, and before the rain came in, I was able to enjoy some time outside with many of my favorite things: flowers, birds, water, cottage reading, and of course TEA! My favorite Yorkshire Tea to be exact. Something about its bold, yet smooth taste wakes me up and gets my day going.

My red teacup and saucer are a recent purchase from a trip to the glorious Maine coast last year and my reading material of choice today are my old Cottage Style, Victoria, and Tea Time magazines. I’ve re-read and re-read them, but they are still a joy to look at. It’s more about the beautiful photos, than the articles themselves.

Beauty brings me joy. Tea brings my joy. This charming setting brings me joy. Summer brings me joy. Being outside brings me joy. And my husband brings me joy!

As of this month, we’ve been together for 25 years and as of Monday, we’ll have been married for 13 of those 25 years. I am blessed to have found such a wonderful man and decent human being.

JOY!

  1. What a beautiful setting, Aunt Heidi. I just love your back yard. WOW. The Peonies are so pretty! I have a few that grow up in the corner of my yard, they are like white puffs of heaven. You created a beautiful setting for your blog. I could sit there for days! That loon call is just priceless. I just adore them and they of course remind me of Aunt Dori everytime I hear one call. Such a lovely blog with your grateful blessings of Joy. I cannot believe it has already been 25 years for you and Uncle Dave! Where does the time go? Lots and Lots of Love, Happy Summer ❤

  2. I just got back from a short stay in the Adirondacks. I got to kayak and hang out with the loons.
