Croissants For One

When you’re visiting a town that has a café/bakery called Mornings in Paris, you stop and buy croissants! Which is exactly what I did a couple of weeks ago on our short trip to the southern coast of Maine.

I purchased a chocolate croissant and a plain butter croissant. The many, many flakey layers of goodness crumbled upon first bite and that’s exactly what you want to see. A croissant should melt in your mouth and boy, did these deliver!

I did not add any jam or butter to the croissants. They didn’t need it in my opinion and you’re then allowed to really taste the croissant without slathering something all over it.

It’s no doubt a good thing I don’t live any closer to this café. I’d be even fatter than I already am. But a stop every now and then, when I’m in the area, is okay, right?

I also stopped at another favorite spot: The Tea Space, where I purchased some Downeast Breakfast Blend from the Bar Harbor Tea Company. This strong tea created a bold contrast to the buttery taste of the croissants.

Closing out the tasty display were two kinds of artisanal biscotti bites. Lemon and almond bites added just enough sweetness.

The pretty two-tiered server was purchased online last year at The Brooklyn Teacup in Brooklyn, NY. They sell vintage and new teaware, but also create new pieces using combinations of both, which I love! I picked up this piece because it had a blue calico plate from Burleigh pottery which goes with my vintage teacup and saucer.

The days are getting shorter. The sun is setting lower in the sky. The temperatures are creeping downward. Soon it will be sweater weather and chai time! So, I also bought my first autumn-themed mug, which will make its debut in the blog later on.

Cheers to tasty cafés and tea stores where you can buy tea, tea ware, and yummy bites.
