During this pandemic, I’ve been working from home. It’s been different, frustrating, and wonderful all at the same time. The last 3-4 weeks have been sunny, hot, rain-free, and glorious. So, I decided to take the week prior to our 4th of July holiday this weekend to enjoy a stay-cation.
We live on a stream, although it looks more like a river, and every day before work, I’ve been going out to fill the bird feeders and every day the deck calls my name as it bathes in the warm, early sunlight. Oh, how I was looking forward to sitting outside on the deck each day this week enjoying the sun, the birds, and taking our pontoon boat out…or kayaking. So much for THAT plan!
It has been highly disappointing to me that it has rained the last four days. Yes, it has been warm, but very muggy and raw. I have cleaned, done laundry, and read two books. A planned trip to the coast has been postponed twice. With many things still being closed, or with limited service still here in our state, just going somewhere takes considerable planning during a pandemic.
I started this fourth rainy day with an appropriately named Earl Grey tea from Taylors of Harrogate. Its smokey, yet sweet tang perked me up and I believe the skies have started to brighten. I’m not holding my breath.

The last of the peonies provided a much-needed pop of color to this gray day. Our daisies are going to blooming in a few days, and I see some rose buds out there getting ready to pop open. Of course, then I’ll be working.

Hey, it’s MY blog and I can cry if I want to. 🙂
