Between heat waves I enjoyed some tea out on the deck. I have a morning routine, and sometime’s “taking it outside” disrupts what I had normally do. I know, I know…with this view I should be enjoying tea on the deck EVERY day, but one has to lug everything out there. This morning I didn’t mind the extra “chore” to do it.

As I watched the dragonflies zip by, and listen to the morning doves chirping in the trees, I enjoyed a lovely pot of FortMason tea in my OG’s of tea sets. The one that started it all!
I bought my first Allyn Nelson “Summertime Rose” teacup and saucer set in 1998 at a vintage store in the Berkshires when Dave and I were first dating. I was living in western NY and he in Maine at the time so the Berkshires was kind of a half-way point and about a six-hour drive for both of us. I had been visiting Maine by myself for ten years prior, so I knew what a haul it was for either of us to drive the entire distance – which we did do on occasion to meet family and go to events.

Each time we’d meet there, I’d go to that delightful store and pick up another piece in the collection of the fine Bone China made in England. Sadly, the store itself no longer exists, and this pattern of china has been discontinued, but I have continued to find multiple pieces or similar throughout the years.
I have two tea pots, three teacups, a salad plate, a lovely porcelain tea strainer, a mug, and a large bowl for plants, fruit or whatever.
Another oldie is the cute carrot mug (used here as a vase) that a beloved co-worker at Johnny’s gave me one year for Secret Santa. It stands out on top of the light green bistro table.

And yes, I did actually use a tea cozy to keep my tea warm as it was THAT cool and I do love to keep my tea warm. I really love this highly-insulated tea cozy I picked up last year. It did a great job, but BARELY fit on this particular teapot because she has a hefty handle and spout. As many of us do. 😉
This lovely little teacup started my proper collection of many different tea ware. It has grown considerably over the years as I bought those “must haves” at antique stores, on trips, or online shops. I have also received lovely gifts from family and friends who knew I would use them and appreciate them. And I DO!

My love of tea started when I used to sneak sips of tea from my mom’s cup when I was little. If she had been drinking coffee, perhaps I’d be a coffee drinker today. It was nice to reminisce about the origins of my love of tea ware and my subsequent expansion of tea selections.
This post was a bit of a ramble. Cheers!
